APPARENTLY in a last ditch effort to end the political crisis rocking Ogun State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday reinstated the Alhaji Sule Onabiyi-led State Elders Council which was suspended on September 15 last year.

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has threatened to withdraw its officials, if any violence erupts during the re-run elections into the two vacant seats in the State House of Assembly.

THE Contract Review Committee set up by the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to look into contracts awarded by his predecessor, Dr Olusegun Agagu’s administration yesterday submitted its report that contracts awarded between 2003 and 2009 failed to follow due process.

He stated that for the amnesty to succeed, the Federal Government should make the states of the region set up their respective State Oil Commissions (SOC) with 50% of their 13% oil derivation allocated to them for their funding and advised that these State Oil Commissions which funding should be paid directly from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation .
