Making the call at Obiaruku in Ukwuani local government area, Delta State, Almona-Isei, while addressing leaders and members of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) in the area during an interactive meeting called to strengthen the unity of the people, said the unity and love currently existing among stakeholders in the area must be strengthened to be able to face the challenges ahead.

He said it was sad that just as the Ijaws were returning to their devastated homes in Gbaramatu kingdom in pains, it was unthinkable for any persons to carry out such wicked attack on their immediate neighbour in so short a time of resettlement and appealed to the Ugborodo people to see the ugly incident as the handiwork of a few misguided elements.

Cross River State has declared war against worms as the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke, has flagged off the de-worming of 90,000 children in the state.

This has consequently thrown up speculations that the report might have been dumped due to political pressures.
Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, had while officially flagging off the tour in Bomadi local government area on September 8, 2008, promised that the team at the end of the exercise will turn in a report that is transparent and would be made public as well.

“The state government has said in no uncertain terms that all stakeholders in the Niger Delta must do everything within their legitimate powers to encourage those who took up arms in the region to drop them because there is no longer need for armed struggle since President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has taken bold and sincere steps to address the Niger Delta crisis and the measures should be allowed to grow and bear the fruit of peace, which all of us need, and that we would assist truly repentant militants to reintegrate into society”.
