THERE were waillings and complaints by hundreds of Ibadan residents yesterday as the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) began demolition of illegal structures on its right of way.

There has been growing conflict between the timber dealers and the Anti-deforestation Task Force since it was set up. It came to a head Tuesday, July 22nd, when some timber dealers attacked men of the task force, inflicting bodily harm on the team leader of the Ikom Surveillance Unit of the task Force, Mr. Effa Okongo when the unit accosted a pontoon loaded with timber on its way to Lagos.
