Chief Alex Ekwueme is, in many respects, Nigeria’s version of Heracles in the Greek mythology. He is a paragon of unusual courage, ingenuity, and strength, whose battle with the military rule is synonymous with Heracles’ terrific and heroic encounter with the hydra-headed chthonic monsters.

PAYING a tribute to Alex Ekwueme is not such an easy task, especially when you consider his diverse array of accomplishments in community philanthropy, architecture, academics, politics and the Church.

AS Nigerians continue to celebrate the success of the just-concluded governorship election in Ondo State, it is important to note that although the president would naturally have wanted his party, the PDP, to win the governorship election in the State, the fact that he has never abused the enormous powers of the presidency to influence the outcome of elections shows that he is a man of his words, a committed democrat and a President who believes in the rule of law and the supremacy of the will of the people.

IN no distant future from now, lovers of fun and excitement shall converge in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital in order to feel the joy that the yearly Calabar Festival brings.
