THE Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, obviously regards himself as the head of a mob of urban protesters, given his recent action at the Police Headquarters, Abuja the other day, where he faced a rowdy APC barricade in the premises in his bid to deliver a protest letter to the IGP. Earlier at a rally, the governor had promised “civil disobedience” and “parallel government” as premeditated APC response to an unfavourable outcome of the 2015 elections. He appeared to care less about the ominous consequences of such anarchy.

IN more experienced democracies, the choice of who deserves to be elected the president of Nigeria between President Goodluck Jonathan and former Head of state General Mohammadu Buhari, in the 2015 presidential election would be a forgone issue due to the fact that both contestants have been in office as president and Nigerians have experienced the governance styles of both, with first-hand observation of their strengths and weaknesses, and importantly what both achieved while in office.

2015 is a decisive year. It is a year of decision; it will determine the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians, young and old and even generation yet unborn. It is a golden opportunity for our political leaders to decide for the majority, whether we are going to fulfill the American prophecy that Nigeria’ existence may be terminated or we shall throw such prophecy into the trash can.

THERE is no likelihood that anyone would be faulted for describing Prof Bolaji Akinyemi as a man of many parts.

Bring light where there is darkness, joy where there is pain, hope where there is despair and respite where there is suffering. Fear not the mighty, be strong and confident in all circumstances, uphold the truth and defend the weak. Fight the power, bow to no man, stand firm on your convictions and resist the evil. Watch and pray, have faith in God, hold your head up high and fight the good fight. This is the creed of the believer: the obligation and calling of the Sons and Daughters of Zion.
