Since the coming of the Buhari administration, Ekiti State Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose has been in the eye of the storm, particularly since he had chosen to be a leading voice of the opposition to the government.

It is only a weak, insecure, paranoid, wicked, heartless, ignorant, lawless and callous government that refuses to identify, apprehend, prosecute and hang the bloodthirsty, psychopathic and murdering Janjaweed Islamist Fulani militants and herdsmen and instead arrests an innocent and accomplished young man like Audu Maikori who simply had the courage to cry out to the world about the barbarous genocide that the people of Southern Kaduna and members of his ethnic group and religious faith are being subjected to all over the north.

OUT of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks says the Holy Bible. And when these two Governors spoke about themselves, recently, they indeed spoke from their hearts. What they told us may not be palatable to us all and to themselves, but they gave us food for thought.

SO much effort is being deployed by the image makers of the new governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to project him as a positive departure from the administration of his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole – an administration of which Obaseki is reputed to have being the “talisman”, for the eight years it lasted. On a regular basis now, we find image building articles in the national dailies, one of which was written by one Ernest Omoarelojie and published in a national daily of January 24, 2017, with the title: Edo: Things are Looking Up.

Since Nigerian citizens have the right to health by the combined effect of section 17 of the Constitution and article 16 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights Act, it is high time our medical facilities were fixed while drugs are made available and affordable. The usual excuse for not equipping our hospitals is that funds are not available. With respect, it is a matter of priority and not poverty.
