Nigerians woke up this New Year to listen to President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Year address to the nation in which he made many promises and undertakings.

Finally, the stretched debate and extensive controversy over President Buhari’s ability to lead Nigerians to the so called promised land is now over. On this, Nigerians owe Mr. President huge debt of gratitude especially for his recent guileless revelations.

CONTROVERSY has continued to trail the recent disclosure by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulaziz Yari that state governors in the country had asked the Federal Government to withdraw $1bn from the Excess Crude Account, ECA, to fight insurgency in the North-east. The decision was recently taken at the Federal Executive Council meeting, presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On Friday, December 22, 2017, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, said the landing cost for petrol is ₦171.40 per litre. He further added that the government was bearing an extra cost of about ₦26.40 per liter for the product so that Nigerians could purchase the product at the government approved and regulated price of ₦145 per liter.
