YES, the truth has always been with us that the Nigerian legislature is a den of robbers. From the beginning of this democratic set-up in 1999, till the date of this 8th National Assembly, it is true that corruption of monumental dimension has become recognizable symbol of the Legislature.

The decision to pen this  article came to me impromptu.  I stumbled on a news item on an online medium, The Sun (UK), published February 18, 2018, which flashed a blistering news caption. It boldly read;  “Terror, Exchange Programme: ISIS Commanders Sneaking Jihadis Into Nigeria From Syria to Train Them for Possible Attacks on Britain,” a story written by  David Willetts,  the  newspaper’s Defence Editor in Kaduna, Nigeria.

To say I was stunned when Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said Buhari had fulfilled his campaign promises and deserved a second term would be an understatement. I mean it is the holy month of Ramadan for goodness sakes. Even if Bola Tinubu wanted to spew such nonsense, why would he do it at a time when the Muslim Ummah should be displaying piety.

The current global security environment is increasingly becoming complex and dynamic due to the activities of non-state actors who have become the major source of conflict all over the world. Adding to this is the upsurge in intra-state crisis and conflicts as well as the entanglement between domestic and international threats which have compounded the security challenges.

UNDER normal circumstances, one would dismiss the recent police invitation of Bukola Saraki, the Senate President as one of the unfolding political drama where the police as presently headed by Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris has been shown to be an active participant. That is if it were an isolated incident.
