ACCORDING to Wikipedia: “A saint is a person who is recognised as having an exceptional degree of holiness, or likeness to God.” In other words, a saint is beyond human, he is in the spiritual realm and infallible. He cannot be faulted because all he does is right in line with the traits of the Almighty God. Who can question the Almighty God? Because of this, man has decided to capitalise on the phrase, “I am no saint”, to explain away his frailties.

A REMARKABLE aftermath of the passage and interment of the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief Mrs. Hannah Idowu Dideolu, HID, Awolowo was the bond of friendship and solidarity that it elicited even among erstwhile foes. Perhaps nothing gave fillip to this pervading spirit of camaraderie than the commendable gesture by the family of the last Premier of the defunct Western region, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola.

Politics in Nigeria has been so bastardised that many people doubt the principles of actors. However, it appears that there are still a few good men in the art. On Thursday, December 10, it will be exactly 10 years since the Loyola Jesuit College community was struck by a tragedy of immense proportions. 60 of our students perished in Nigeria’s worst air crash. Some of the students were in year 7(JS1) while some others were in their last year of high school. Naturally, they were all happy to go home to celebrate Christmas. And their families were waiting to receive them with joy. But everything turned into a long, debilitating grief with the plane crash.

Why do we keep talking about unemployment when the potential, the need and the capacity and the solution are staring us all in the face?

APPARENTLY miffed by the delay in the dispensation of justice and the corruption that it breeds, President Muhammadu Buhari recently made a case for far-reaching reforms in the country’s judicial system. Such reforms must include the reviews of laws, institutions, processes and procedures that hamper the speedy delivery of justice.

BIAFRA is real, and those who wave it away do so to the exposure of their wrong assessment of the situation, and to some extent their ignorance, self-deceit, and or self-denial.
