I MAKE this submission because the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, is trying to railroad the government of President Muhammed Buhari into a major policy blunder that could set Nigeria back by many decades!

The streets must have really taken over indeed; I have no scintilla of doubt about that. What I can’t quickly fathom however, is how the street made it from being the obnoxious bad habit to the celebrated and money generating code. From popular music to brand endorsements and the entire entertainment circle, the tides are quickly changing to accommodate the firmly established street credibility mantra.

IN a statement bearing the title “NERDC and the 9 Year Basic Education Curriculum”, published in The Guardian Newspaper of Tuesday, April 26, 2016, the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) responded to what it described as “certain insinuations and misinformation” regarding the Religion and National Values Curriculum.

NIGERIA is possibly the country with the greatest appellations and accolades in the world. Nigeria is called the giant of Africa, the world’s most populous Black nation, the nation with the highest number of malaria victims , etc. What about Nigerians? Some people have their own way of describing certain other persons. One of the most recent ones I have heard is the expression that ‘Nigerians are docile’! I think this is highly debatable, not to say annoyingly nauseating.

NOW that a year has passed since the historic Presidential election that brought former General Muhammadu Buhari to power and recorded the first ever electoral defeat of an incumbent President in Nigeria, it is only to be expected that concerned analysts will try to comprehend the nature of the new order.

There comes a time when silence is not golden, when policy makers and decision making institutions deliberately and needlessly extend prompt decision on an issue of national importance or even refuse to proffer an amicable way forward in line with national interest.

A FEW weeks ago, I expreienced a terrible flight delay on my way to Abuja. Such was the delay that three or four scheduled flights were either cancelled or merged. While intending passengers waited endlessly, the most annoying aspect of this experience is, apart from apologies were also delayed in coming from operators, no specific provisions was made for passengers who were delayed for about five hours or more.

THE transparency that the Minister of Power, Works and Housing provided in the Q&A session on the electricity industry published in Vanguard newspaper is commendable. There was a time when things happened and no one knew why or why not. We truly live in a new Nigeria.

VEXED voices have, in exasperation, been asking where Reverend Father Ejike Camillus Mbaka is. They are absolutely right who expect the priest to speak up. People should ask where Bola Tinubu is, the one who covets the feat of unknotting Pandora’s Box. People should be asking where many other previously vocal Nigerians are.

AS the current administration winds down in Edo state, the people are beside themselves, singing “thank you” to the governor, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, for a job well done. For obvious reasons, the only exception are members of the opposition who seem to see nothing good in all the amazing developing witnessed across every nook and cranny since its inception in 2009.
