THE decision of the nation’s Council of States, led by President Goodluck Jonathan, to pardon the former BayelsaState governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha and other ex-convicts, has continued to generate ripples in and out of Nigeria.

AT a church service to mark his birthday anniversary on April 4 last year, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole told the audience interesting stories of his growing days in his native home of Iyamho, Etsako West council area of Edo State where he was born 60 years ago. HISTORICALLY, the United States and Nigeria have shared cozy diplomatic relations, except during the late General Sani Abacha’s military interregnum, when the relations turned sour on account of annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election by the military and Abacha’s subsequent usurpation of power. During the period, both countries severed diplomatic relations.

At its maiden Merit Award edition recently in Lagos, the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria, LAWAN, among others honoured the Comrade Governor for being a pride of modern trade unionism.
