In five months, millions of Nigerians will troop to voting centres for an opportunity that we only get every four years in our steadily-growing democracy – the chance to elect the President. The man or woman with the power to decide the fate and fortune of our country for another four years.

FROM the vote-buying and voters intimidation scenarios of Ekiti and Osun to the trashing of Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos State by the structures that enthroned him and the eventual emergence of party flag-bearers at the State and Federal levels, the political ecosystem of the country has been charged in the past few weeks.

THE Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, CIIN, said that it is putting modalities in place to tackle the quest for foreign certification in insurance risk management.

In Nigeria, it is rather sad that not all have embraced insurance. This is why the penetration rate still remains below one percent against some other African countries such as Kenya and South Africa with penetration levels of 2.9 percent and 14 percent respectively. Also only one percent of our population holds any form of insurance policy.
