AFTER months of heightened expectations, the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday, April 4 approved a list of 14 nominees sent to it by Governor Kayode Fayemi for screening and appointment as commissioners. The wait had been full of suspense, but when the list came, it surely gladdened the hearts of all genuine stakeholders as it captivated the essence of the second administration of the governor to finish triumphantly.

THE just-concluded general elections can be described as a mixed grill of positive and unpleasant experiences. While some politicians were elected into various offices across the states without acrimony, the elections did not go without the bitter stories of ballot snatching, rigging, killings, abductions and falsification, among others. The atmosphere was soaked in tension in many places that voting took place. This could largely be responsible for why there was general voter apathy. The desperation to get into public offices at all cost could be the basis for why political activities have assumed frightening dimensions in recent times.

It is unhealthy and disruptive for the polity if all we do after an election is to trigger new battles that leave no room for conducive atmosphere for development and movement to the next level
