WITH the governorship and state assembly elections just twenty four hours away, the political parties and their respective candidates are now desperately jostling to sway public opinions as they also dangle enticing carrots to swing votes. The campaigns may be over but the quiet canvassing goes on.

Undoubtedly, the characteristic spectacle of the last eight years in Oyo state had been the exceptional performance of the Gov Abiola Ajimobi administration which distinctively featured governance best practices. Under Ajimobi’s watch, good governance and conscientious leadership became the norm. He was exceptional in turning around the fortunes of the state in an unprecedented manner, a feat that earned him the epithet, “Koseleri”(never happened before).

The 2019 presidential election has been won and lost. The next stage is to form a government and create the necessary support base that will help the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Muhammadu Buhari to successfully deliver on expectations

Since the return of democracy in 1999, Enugu state has remained a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) considering the fact that the governorship position in the state has always been occupied by candidates of the PDP. Again, almost all the elective positions in
all the elections conducted from 1999 to date were equally won by the PDP.
