The proof of the pudding is in the eating, says an old English proverb but let’s tweak that a little to say that the proof of a sterling performance in public office may be said to lie in the quantum of verifiable evidence made available to the public.

The direct impulse to the writing of this piece came from six separate inspection trips of the new 158.5km, double-track Standard Gauge railway line from Ibadan to Lagos which is about to be flagged off for use in May. Those inspection trips, which were spread out over a one-year period, were in the company of the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

Ajegunle, popularly known as AJ City or AJ, is located in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government of Lagos State. The community is known to have produced notable national figures such as Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles’ coach, and Daddy Showkey, a popular musician.

It is appropriate to join the good people of Ogun State to  congratulate the governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun, of the All Progressive Congress, APC, for a well-deserved victory.

If there is anything, or a combination of things, that is fanning the embers of doubt about the credibility of the 2019 general elections, it is to be located in the response of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the petition of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
