Oluwatoyin Christiana Obafemi has been announced the winner of the 2018 edition of the 9mobile Photography Competition, themed 9ja: My Grind, My Hustle, for her image titled My Passion, My Strength.

The Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe, has commended designers of the Wuye ultra-modern market in Abuja. He gave the commendation during the occasion of the opening of the 3rd Wuye annual trade fair held in Abuja at which Runsewe was a special guest of honour.

She was trained as a Bio-Chemist, but she chose to be a textile artist. Her brand name is Moolori Wearable Art, and she is on the verge of showcasing her works in an exhibition titled REMILEKUN. When news about the passing away of Nigeria’s celebrated poet, Ikeogu Oke, broke last week, not many people believed it was true considering that he was consistent in the public sphere as a celebrity since winning the 2017 Nigeria Prize for Literature for his poetry collection, “The Heresiad”. The late Ikeogu Oke was 51 years of age before his sudden death on the 24th of November 2018. He was born on May 23, 1967 in Jos, Plateau state; few years after Nigeria had gained her independence and also became a republic. A native of Abiriba in Abia State, Ikeogu Oke was said to have died in Abuja at the National Hospital from Pancreatic Cancer.

In this era of unbridled materialism and entrenched culture of pre-occupation with mundane, trivial and sensual pleasures, it is rare to find visual artists who speak with their brushes and pencils as Fela Kuti speaks with his music and dance.  Duke Emuyenwomano Asidere is one of those few artists.
