Aké Arts & Book Festival, in partnership with Sterling Group and Luminate, has scheduled the 11th edition of the Aké Arts and Books Festival to hold from 23-25 November 2023 at BON Hotel Ikeja Residence, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

Julius Agbaje from Nigeria and Asmaa Jama representing the African/Diasporan category have won the 2023 Access ART X Prize, after beating eight other artists.

Missing works, looted artworks, documentation, record keeping, the question of who should take custody of stolen works returned from foreign countries, and similar topics were some of the issues that dominated discussions during the 2023 Cartoonists Association of Nigeria (CARTAN)’s Cartoon, Animation, Comic and Art Festival (CACAFest) themed “Drawing Attention”.

In what may be described as the mother of all exhibitions during this art season, the ‘Best of Ife’ will be showcasing an array of talented artists across generations.

The Nigerian fiction writer and poet, Jekwu Anyaegbuna, has won this year’s “Poetry London” Prize, a top poetry prize in the United Kingdom. His entry “Unusual Inmates” was announced in October 2023, by the organisers at a ceremony that held at the Southbank Centre in London.
