Nobel laureate, Professor. Wole Soyinka, is not somebody you meet every time, not to talk of interviewing. But at one of the programmes of the just concluded Ake Art and Books Festival held at June 12 Cultural centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, tagged In the Shadow of memory: An audience with Wole Soyinka, afforded four undergraduates the opportunity to meet him and ask questions on his muse, activism, religious views, the Pyrates Confraternity and others. After his last successful solo exhibition in Lagos tagged The Mask, multi talented Nigerian born photographer, Lakin Ogunbanwo is set to thrill Nigerian art lovers in another conceptual photography exhibition tagged The Muse.

One of the defining features of modern time exhibitions is the colours that characterize the paintings or photographs displayed at the halls, but the recent exhibition by Joseph Ogunlowo was totally different from that. The exhibition titled Re- Awakening, a solo art exhibition which focused on traditional art is a testimony of the creative and resilient spirit of the real African man. It opened on November 23, at the National Museum, Onikan, Lagos and closed on November 29.

Man’s inability to understand that the physical things before him, including himself are controlled by God gave birth to Wisdom: A Discovery In A Nation With A Broken Heart.

It was indeed an evening of inspiring poetry, beautiful music and alluring fashion, as friends, colleagues, and well wishers gathered to celebrate one of Nigerian’s ace broadcaster, prize winning author and Vlisco Ambassador, Eugenia Abu at a recent poetry reading session held in her honour at the Eko Hotels and Suites.
