Traditional music, folk songs loud as Yoruba Lakotun marks anniversary

The Ethnic Heritage Centre, Ikoyi Lagos came alive penultimate week as the Yoruba Lakotun, the quarterly cultural flagship programme, celebrated its first anniversary amidst pomp and pageantry. It was a celebration that colourfully showcased some of the Yoruba cultural heritage especially the talking drum and the beaded gourd (sekere).

Bruce Onobrakpeya’s Harmattan Workshop exhibition turns LCA into museum

Lagos Court of Arbitration, (LCA) has always been a busy place with people who visit the three storey building in Lekki Phase 1 Lagos for the resolution of commercial disputes via arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. But the centre was turned to a museum of sort as all the floors were filled with various types of artworks courtesy of a historic exhibition by one of Africa’s most respected artists, Professor Bruce Onobrakpeya and his Harmattan workshop.

Harvest of stars as National troupe ends 2016 Creative Station

Professor Isidore Okpewho buried in the U.S

The family of Africa’s foremost scholar of Oral Literature and award-winning novelist Prof. Isidore Okpewho who died on September 4th, 2016 last week announced arrangements for his final rite of passage. The prolific author of over a dozen books and scores of academic articles was buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey, United States of America on Saturday, September 17.
