Winner of the 2016 edition of the Etisalat Prize for Literature, Africa’s most prestigious literature Prize, will be announced on May 20, 2017 at a grand finale/award presentation ceremony which will hold at the upscale Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The evening was a ‘fantastic’ one, said the co-chairman of the Planning Committee of Lagos at 50, Habeeb Fasinro, after watching Wakaa, the musical, the drama piece that flagged off the Lagos at 50 celebrations.

Ever since the news about the passing of literary Amazon, Florence Onyebuchi (Buchi) Emecheta late January broke, it’s been accolades from literary communities both within and outside the shores of the country.

Politics as a game is supposed to be played in a friendly way, but the tendency to win elections at all costs better known as “do or die” attitude of today’s politicians has turned it to a great threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

After the successful performances in Nigeria and Davos, Switzerland four years ago, the award winning “Kakadu” the Musical returns to the theatre stage this April for Lagos@50 celebration, before heading to the Nelson Mandela Theatre, Johannesburg as part of the Africa Day Celebrations from the 7th to the 18th of June 2017.
