“Visual Arts as an academic discipline at the tertiary level of Nigeria’s educational system has evolved through various stages in the past six decades from the ordinary National Diploma to the Doctor of philosophy degree in Studio Art. In its evolutionary history, the discipline has witnessed desirable as well as many undesirable developments.

“Theatre is huge in its own right and people are beginning to recognize it. It’s only a matter of time we will be seeing young writers showcase their worth as long as there’s an enabling environment for them to operate.

“I wrote the book with hope that more young girls can talk to their mothers and mothers can learn to listen to their daughters. This is a book of hope and inspiration. As parents, it helps us see the need to go closer to our children and children to go closer to the parents and see them as confidants.

Recent developments have revealed that the reading culture among Nigerians, particularly the youth and students, has waned significantly. The rate of failure recorded by students in the WAEC, NECO and other examinations are clear indications to that. How then do we improve the reading culture?

The air was filled with the booming and buzzing of the excited voices and faces of students, most of who were adorned in their traditional attires as people gathered for the annual children festival. It was fun watching the happy looking children expressing themselves in divers creative ways through singing, dancing, drama, motivational talks, presentation of awards, essay competition, African king and queen pageant, etc.
