London Fashion Week opened February 19 to raving reviews on the quirky designs of Britain’s new talents. The Autumn Winter and Spring/Summer collections were a fusion of esthetics, drama and plenty of folds.

Fashion as a social phenomena, has brought Ituen Basi, Quintessence and Zebra together; it has offered the trio opportunity of bouncing ideas off of one another, just like any other form of art.

Why, all of a sudden does everyone look the same? Its almost as if there’s a huge ‘machine’ churning out all the fashionistas – you know the look – long locks of ‘Aunty Funmi’ hair’, eyes completely hidden behind huge sunnies, tons of make-up, ‘the’ jeans or dress, the platforms and yes, you got it, THE bag!

I do not really like shampooing weaves because I am never sure all the shampoo/conditioner has been rinsed out. I f we were taught to rinse our hair for 5 continuous minutes with running water before we can deem it to be clean, can you imagine how much water one would need to completely rinse out the weave? Now, I know that most salons in our environment have challenges with water; so you ought to be aware of this fact before you subject your weave-on to an incomplete wash.

Your choice of hair styles may be killing your hair. You need to learn to vary your styles ever so slightly so that you do not fatigue areas of focus. An area of focus is the area from which your style starts, such as a parting which could be bang in the center of the head or to the side of the head [whether left or right!] or a fringe which could be frontal or sideways.
