Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson says the turnover of information communications technology, ICT companies into the Nigerian economy has reached N185 billion in 2013 and is expected to hit N200 billion by 2015.

Participants at the just concluded 2013 Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, (CPN) Information Technology Assembly held in Abuja were worried saying that except IT for wealth is given priority attention, the fight against poverty and unemployment will remain unabated in the country.

A new ICT initiative aimed at reducing the umemployment rate in the country was last weekend flagged off in Lagos. The Foundation tagged Digital Access Foundation for Technology Development, DAFTECH, was described as a registered not-for-profit organization with an objective to provide free technology educational services, digital learning and new media services to developmental organizations, students, civil society groups, educational institutions and individuals alike.

BARELY three weeks to the 2013 11th edition of the Nigerian Computer Science, (NCS) International Conference scheduled to hold this month in Osun State, organizers of the event have said that Information Technology in governance and security for global competitiveness, digital inclusion, economic growth, job creation, human capital development and overall prosperity would top discussion.

Frontline Nigeria cable Company, Main One, last week said that unless there was a holistic adoption of ICT into the Nigerian secondary and tertiary institutions, it may be difficult to produce 21st century graduates that are ruling world economies now.
