The Federal Government has paid N200 million as land compensation to two communities around Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, River State, which lands were taken for construction of a perimeter fencing for the airport.

AFTER having suffered four adjournments, ruling is expected to be delivered this morning by the Federal High Court, Asaba on the application filed by Chief James Ibori seeking to strike out the 170-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr. Igbini asserted, “To allow Dr Goodluck Jonathan act as president beyond temporary absence of President Yar Adua and perpetually till 2011 as sought by the plaintiff will amount to denying the South -South geopolitical zone the opportunity and full right to produce the President of Nigeria come 2015 – 2023”.

THE Warri-Ijaw Peace Monitoring Group (WIPMG) has called for the removal from office of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Ufot Ekaette, due to alleged disappointing performance and failure to work amicably with his colleague, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe. The group also insisted that Chief Ekaette should go to enable peace to reign in the Niger Delta and for the post–amnesty programme of the Federal Government to succeed.
