Police searched for weapons and residents were on edge in Maiduguri yesterday ahead of the one-year anniversary of a deadly uprising by the Islamic fundamentalists,Boko Haram, with fears they would strike again.

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and his Ondo State counterpart, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, led other prominent Nigerians yesterday to celebrate the former Ambassador of the United States to Nigeria, Mr.Walter Carrington, who clocked 80 years.

CROWEF/EWEF has been launched as an NGO, with a focus on alleviating the suffering of women and children in the Niger Delta. The launching took place at the Mom’s Civic Centre, Airport Road , Warri. Theme of the inaugural launch was “Keeping Hope Alive.”

THE Akwa Ibom Synod of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has commended the decision of Akwa Ibom State government to resuscitate shut and ailing state-owned industrial enterprises. It called on the government to expedite action in this direction.
