It was like a beautiful homecoming for once famous Afro folk singer, composer, guitarist and band leader from 60’s to the ’80s , Akeeb Kareem popularly known as Blackman Kareem as he made a surprise appearance at a concert put together by the Beautiful Nubia, where he performed alongside others to the admiration of his fans who trooped out to welcome him.

It was another gathering of celebrities, poets and book lovers as a new novel, “Baron of Broad Street” weaved around two adventurous youths with an opposing conqueror doctrine but solidly united in optimism was unveiled to the public last week in Lagos.

As one enters the gate of St. Pio Catholic church, Surulere, one will be greeted with two gigantic art works that depict Jesus and his disciples designed on the interiors of the walls of the church. The two creative works , carefully put together by an upcoming artist, Mr Valentine Ihemenwa are so monumental as it showcase the rich culture of Nigeria, and also promote unity among the heterogeneous groups.

In recent times, headlines such as Man hacks wife to death for adultery, Man baths wife with acid, Man sets wife ablaze for…,Woman baths husband with hot water while asleep…, and and the stories seem unending as new cases keep cropping up.

Possibly I will never know greater honour in my life than to be personally invited by my hero and mentor Professor Ben Nwabueze to review the third volume of his Autobiography titled “MY LIFE AND WORK IN THE SEARCH FOR A NEW, BETTER AND UNITED NIGERIA”.
