TO ensure effective waste management in Benin City and other major towns in Edo, the state government is to spend the sum of N346, 879,003.38 for the procurement of waste management equipment.

The West African Examinations Council WAEC, has called on the members of the Test Administration Plainning and Coordinating Committee (TADPCC) of WAEC to see themselves as team leaders to reposition themselves to play their roles effectively. The Head of Nigeria National Office of the Council, Dr. Iyi Uwadiae made this known during a meeting held recently at the Rockview Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos.

He advised that henceforth, academic trade unions must learn to insist on Federal government guarantee of fitness and full authority to commit it to its representatives/negotiators before any industrial union commences dialogue on negotiation with the Federal government on workers welfare matters.

According to Adebakin Omotoke, a 400 Level Student of Business Administration at the University of Lagos said of the on-going ASUU strike: “I like the strike because it gives me the opportunity to write my project. I’m in Chapter Four of my project now and by the time we resume, I will be able to face my courses and get prepared adequately for my final examination.”

“We therefore deem it expedient to explain the issues thoroughly to all Nigerian students, parents and poor Nigerians who have been concerned about the turn which events in the education sector has taken.”
