The Lagos and Ogun State governments have announced that world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has been discharged from hospital following a horrific road accident that claimed the lives of two of his associates.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disclosed that Nigerian troops rescued 2,336 kidnapped victims, arrested 4,375 suspects, and received 1,616 surrendered terrorists and their family members across the country in 2025.

The former lawmaker was abducted on Tuesday evening. The gunmen also reportedly shot some people on the road.

Abubakar said the suspect was arrested by the group on December 29, when he was allegedly assigned by insurgents to spy on the deployments and locations of troops and vigilante members in Yobe.

At least six passengers have been confirmed dead, while four others were rescued, following a boat mishap along the Nigerdock axis of the Igbologun water channel in Lagos State.
