A widow, Mrs. Stella Ogheneovo, who was allegedly forced to drink  the water used to wash her dead husband’s corpse by relatives of the deceased to prove her innocence about the death of her husband, Captain Johnbull Ogheneovo, has alerted police authorities over her plight.

ENUGU—THE story of Mr. Alphonsus Orjinta, a 59-year-old visually-impaired teacher and 1991 Political Science Education graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, who got married in Enugu after years of rejection and loneliness, is one that elicits emotion.

As activities for this year’s hajj draw to a close in Makkah, pilgrims sponsored by Folawiyo group of companies have continued to pour encomiums on the companies managed by Mr Tunde Folawiyo just as several sessions of prayers were held for the soul of the founder of the companies, Late Abdulwahab Iyanda Folawiyo, at Mount Arafah and Masajida Al Haram, both in Makkah and Madinah.

When Ismail’s mother, Hajar, known as Hagai  exhausted  the water she had in her skin bag left by her husband, Ibrahim, she went on searching for more within the area.  Mother and child became thirsty. Hajar, confused tossing in agony; left her baby, Ismail, in search of water.  She walked to the mountain of As-Safâ nearest to her on that land. She stood on it and started looking at the valley keenly expecting to get help from somebody around who could help, but none came.

In achieving a hitch free hajj, as well as reducing the risk of ill health, provision of good food and accommodation is key. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON and the Pilgrims Welfare Board from various states have taken this issue with all serious attention.
