Uproar as DSS operative attacks AIT camera man
THE only black mark to the day’s event occurred when an SSS operative, identified as Mr. Emeka attached to Ebonyi State government House, Abakaliki, attacked and pummelled an Africa Independent Television, AIT, cameraman in the State, Mr. Chineye Sunday, who was then trying to get shots of dignitaries during the event. To the shock of all present, including the dignitaries, the SSS operative allegedly shoved and repeatedly punched the hapless fellow on the face. The development almost ruined the joy of the occasion, but thanks to the comportment and maturity exhibited by the AIT cameraman, this did not happen.

Bad days ahead for kidnappers: 100 face death penalty in Edo
OVER one hundred suspected kidnappers face the death sentence in Edo State following the signing into law of the state kidnapping law by Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Kidnapping in the state became worrisome after hoodlums descended on the state to a level that even teachers were being kidnapped for ransom. Lagos lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, a Benin High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, a chieftain of the APC, Athanacious Ugbome, were among those who suffered from the kidnappers onslaught along the Auchi-Abuja road, in Edo State.

How midnight marauders attacked widow, children in Abuja
Police detectives in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,are working round the clock to fish out a group of men that attacked and brutalized a widow, Ufoma Ofondu, 49, at her residence, recently. The mother of four narrowly escaped death on Thursday, September 26, 2013, after four armed men jumped into their compound in the midnight to steal their generator. They fled after alarm was raised only to invade the compound the next day and inflicted severe injuries on the widow with matchet. She was saved by quick intervention of the police who were alerted by her neighbours when the invaders attacked her with dangerous weapons.
