IF only he had known that coming to Lagos to eke a living would turn out to be a painful tale of woes, perhaps Raimi Baruwa, a native of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, would have thought twice about the decision. Unfortunately, he is today bitterly regretting that decision as he presently has a debt of N620,000 hanging on his neck, while his health is fast deteriorating with nobody to come to his aid.

Another major disaster was averted on Monday at Ifako-Ijaiye area of Lagos State after occupants and property were evacuated from a distressed three-storey building at No 3 Ajayi Road, Ogba Aguda which vibrated alarmingly following a heavy rainfall at the weekend. The development which spelt a danger sign of the building’s imminent collapse created panic among residents in the area.

THE Balogun Market branch of dealers of bags and leather wear association of Nigeria recently embarked on a protest march against some Chinese business men who they accused of undermining and killing their businesses. Speaking during the protest, the national Chairman of the association, Mr Azubike Nwachukwu , said Nigerian dealers have been operating at a loss since the Chinese business men started retail selling of the leather products at a very cheap price.

Lagosians have witnessed different public bus transportation systems but none had before now met their expectation and lasting satisfaction. Among the commercial bus types that have come and gone over the years are the Lagos City Transport Services, LCTS, the large ubiquitous Lagos yellow buses popularly called Molue, the civilian coaster buses and the mini-Molue type popularly called Faka.

For several weeks, it was a battle of wits, accusations and counter-accusations between the Lagos State government and medical doctors in the state over the inability of both parties to respect the terms of agreements signed by them.
