On September 28, 2009, the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund sent the managing director, Chief Enuora Okoli on compulsory leave. Since then, he has been out of office but the Nigeria police has been busy investigating the allegations against him. Surprisingly, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) was not brought in.

A LEADING fruit juice and other consumables, manufacturing company, Chi Limited, is presently at loggerheads with an ex-staff of the company, Mr. Taiwo Oyelami, over the treatment of his left ear that requires surgery as a result of injuries sustained in an industrial accident in the course of his work.

The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has started a campaign on social protection for migrant workers. The launch of this campaign coincided with the International Migrants’ Day, marked December 18, 2009 .
Before then, the International Labour Organisation during its annual conference in 2004 adopted a “ Multilateral Framework on Labour Migration which is a part of a plan of action for migrant workers agreed by
ILO constituents”.

The British Trade Union Congress ( TUC) has cautioned the government against any drop in resources meant to sustain the unemployed even as it is hopeful that more people will find jobs this month of January.

MISTER Esai Dangaba, recently, retired as Director of the Police Pensions Office(PPO), after over thirty years service to the nation in various capacities. The retired Director of PPO, who was born 58 years ago in Akko local government area of Gombe state, started his career as a teacher before joining the core civil service where he started as a deputy clerk of the Bauchi State House of Assembly in 1979 until he attained the position of a Director in 1997.
