ORGANISED Labour berated Federal Government’s failure to arrest increasing expatriate quota abuse by multinationals operating in the country.

UNITED Labour Congress of Nigeria, ULC, and the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees, NUFBTE, have lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the recently signed Executive Order barring foreigners from taking jobs that could be performed by Nigerians. ULC in a statement by its president, Joe Ajaero, titled Nigerian Jobs for Nigerians: Buhari,s Executive Order, said: “The Executive Order by President Muhammadu Buhari  barring foreigners from taking jobs that could be performed by Nigerians is a laudable development not just to Nigeria but to all workers of our dear nation. We commend this bold initiative which is in furtherance of government’s drive to domesticate and Nigerianise our consumption and purchasing patterns by focusing on promoting local content.

The Permanent  Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Bolaji Adebiyi, has  said the implementation of the National Reporting Template for combating child labour remains one of the most pragmatic ways of eliminating all forms of child labour in Nigeria by 2025, in line with the Sustainable Development Goal 8 and Target 8.7.

The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers , NAAPE, has called off its industrial action against  Bristow Helicopters, and Caverton Helicopters .

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said on Saturday that the Buhari administration is fully committed to creating new jobs in all sectors of the economy.

THE general consensus by panellists at a workshop organised in Lagos by the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, on the platform of NECAPreneur was that entrepreneurship is the leeway to liberating millions of unemployed Nigerians from joblessness.

THE problems of rising of unemployed and underemployed in Nigeria is assuming frightening dimension every passing day as the economy remains in the doldrums and socio-economic environment is becoming harsher for businesses to thrive, thereby frustrating the capacity of businesses to sustain and create employment.
