Andrew Skipper currently heads the Africa practice of Hogan Lovells, a global law firm with offices in more than 45 countries including 11 offices in the USA. In this interview with Sebastine Obasi, he talks about the challenges confronting power situation in Nigeria. Excerpts.

The concluding part of J.K. Obatala’s late-night interview with  Dr.  Kalu Mosto Onuoha formerly Petroleum Technology Development Fund Professor of Geology, at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). At 70, he is now Emeritus. Onuoha—who  has been president of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences (NAS), since January, 2017—explicated current issues, his priorities, among others.

There has been a whole lot of silence on sexuality, and if they are even going to talk about it, they will use acronyms, euphemisms, suggestive words and phrases. When people have been raised in that kind of environment, it becomes difficult for them because they have not acquired the skills, and, more importantly, the open mindedness to discuss broadly on the issues of sexuality.

I experienced stigmatization too. My daughter experienced it. People will look at her and exclaim. At one year old, she looked like four months old and her face was old and her hair refused to grow. She looked funny and there were people who looked at her in a funny way
