AFTER about five months of delay in sitting for their 2010/2011 second semester examination, students of the Lagos State University External System (LASUES) heaved a sigh of relief as authorities of the university finally announced May 21 for the commencement of their long awaited exams.

Resolute about its position to ensure that universities across the country do not run programmes that are not approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the commission recently approved 30 programmes for National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN. The approval came on the heels of abuse of the Part-time and sandwich programmes in the nation’s learning institutions.

The falling standard of education in Nigeria will soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a centre for online learning.
