TEAM Aspire- inventors of one of the top 10 ideas in the In’Genius Project Competition Version 1.0 with focus on Information Communication Technology (ICT) has emerged the winner of the maiden edition of In’Genius Project competition at the grand finale which was held recently at the Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos, Akoka.

THE National Association of Anambra State Law Students (NAALS), have described as ‘‘victory to all Anambarians and in particular Anambra students’’ the judgement of the supreme court in upholding the election of Mrs. Margery Chuba Okadigbo as sitting senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Anambra North at the National Assembly.

All the programmes in the college of science, which are due for accreditation, had all been accredited. The programmes we are now working for their accreditation are the programmes in the college of technology, which, as against the science programmes, which are four- year degree programmes, four years in terms of length of residency of the students – the engineering programmes, we are working towards their accreditation.

With consistent mass failure in public examinations, the Federal Government and teachers across the country are battling to remedy the situation before it gets out of control.

…Says Nigeria’s industrial base is weak
If Nigeria must progress, her industrial base needs to be strengthened. Talk of the great nations of the world; they are nations with great industrial bases. Although Nigerian scientists are doing their bit in their laboratories, but the people seem not to feel the impact. In this chat with Vanguard Learning, Professor Samuel Ogbonna Enibe, a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka spoke on his research work on solar refrigerator and says there is usually a problem between laboratory work and the market place. Excerpts:

Over-crowded classrooms. Leaking roofs. Schools with broken fences. Schools with no fences. Pictures whose unveiling could be the nightmare of any education district in Nigeria. But for Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos state, these pictures, coupled with over a thousand words were used as tools at the recently held education summit on Public Private Partnership; Tools to secure a better learning environment for the primary school students of the area.

The campus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), was thrown into confusion, Friday, as students trooped out in large numbers to protest the sudden death of their union president, Comrade Oladapo Awopegba (aka D.P.O), who lost his life alongside two other SUG presidents – Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Akure and School of Nursing and Midwifery, Akure, in a ghastly motor accident that occurred along Emure-Ile on Owo-Akure Road, Friday.

The National Executive Council of the Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) has condemned the report submitted by Mr. Stephen Oronsaye which said that the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, should be reduced to a department under the Ministry of Communication Technology.
