Nigeria seeks action-oriented new urban agenda to replace Habitat 11
NIGERIA has called for a practical, pragmatic and action-oriented new urban agenda that will transcend the Habitat Agenda. The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs Akon Eyakenyi who made the call recently at the first preparatory conference for the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban development, Habitat 111, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, called for the emergence of “a new Urban Agenda that will exert similar lasting influence, building on agreed relevant international sustainable development goals, and with clear goals, principles and plan of action”. The new agenda will also ensure “that we leave future generations with a prosperous future”.
