Lagos State Government has warned residents of state owned housing estates to desist from modifying or altering the approved designs of structures in the residential estates.

The importance of housing as a basic need to man, cannot be over emphasised. But to make housing available to people requires an effective mortgage system for funding housing in any country , just as the country’s economy must be sound to support the country’s housing needs.

Apart from the nightmare residents of Apapa, workers and visitors to Apapa go through on daily basis as a result of the unending gridlock in the axis caused by the menace of articulated trucks and tankers, which has remained a major concern, one other serious issue of concern is the degradation of Apapa environment by the gridlock.

The Principal Partner, Lansar Aghaji & Co, a firm of estate surveyors and valuers, and expert in facilities management, Mr. Lansar Aghaji,  has noted that absence of policy guidelines for maintenance and management of  government’s infrastructure is responsible for dilapidating state of public buildings across the country.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently toured the areas within the Festac Phase 11 to ascertain the extent of illegal sales by land grabbers.
