ABOUT N7 billion was realised last week at the official fund raising ceremony of the first ever International Cancer Centre Abuja (ICCA) to meet the N10 billion target. The fund is meant to construct a cancer centre that would provide services in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and research for cancer patients.

WHEN the Indomie Hospital Project train took off in April 2009, the aim and objective of the initiative was crystal clear. Designed to realistically support the efforts of government at Federal and State levels to bring quality health care services to Nigerian children, the project features the donation of hospital equipment to various hospitals in Nigeria.

Anulika Ogbonna is a 32-year-old lady diagnosed with cancer of the breast. Altough discharged from the National Hospital Abuja, she is far from healed. “When I noticed a lump in my breast, I was afraid, because I have little information on cancer of the breast. My fear was confirmed when I went to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for diagnosis. The lump was extracted, but I am not improving. I need surgery, but can’t afford it.”
