SHORTLY after the flag-off of the “Maternal and New Born Child Health Week (MNBCHW)” in Borno State, the impact is already noticeable. Already in some local government areas of the State, there is massive response from women and aged 5-6 years.

Even though children all over the world are seen as the leaders of tomorrow, they are yet to be accorded the relevant and necessary attention they deserve to prepare them for this very important task ahead. Millions of them across the world suffer, treated with reckless abandon and impunity, or sold into child slavery.

We can build a world favourable for children, if each one of us does his part and considers that the welfare of children is our own responsibility.”

AS Nigeria weekend witnessed the unveiling of the first-ever infusions and other Parenteral products manufactured under a carbon copy of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) Dr. Paul Orhii has disclosed that no Nigeria pharmaceutical company has WHO GMP certfication.

TOWARDS changing the profile of Nigeria as the country with the 4th largest burden of tuberculosis in the world, and at the same time checkmate the national menace of HIV & AIDS epidemic, a collaborative venture involving the National Tuberculosis & Leprosy Control Programme, the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) and the United States-based Centres for Diseases Control (CDC) has established a first rate TB/HIV & AIDS reference laboratory in Zaria, Kaduna State.
