Nigeria wants transparency in selecting new WTO DG

The Federal Government on Friday in Abuja called for transparency in the process of selecting a new Director-General for the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on May 31. Mr Samuel Ortom, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, expressed government’s position when Mr Roberto Zapata, a special envoy of Mexican President Pena Nieto, visited him. Ortom said credibility in the selection process would usher in a competent leadership that would take the 159-member global trade body to the next level.

Foreign remittances to Nigeria hit $21bn

Nigeria and five other countries have been named by the World Bank as top recipients of global remittances in 2012. A report released by the bank said; ”The top recipients of officially recorded remittances for 2012 are India $69 billion, China $60 billion, The Philippines $24 billion, Mexico $23 billion, Nigeria and Egypt $21 billion each.

Market trend: Pricing and contending issues in milk market

It’s no longer news that Nigerians are not drinking enough milk, particularly the children. Now, it’s become interesting to note that the milk market has assumed a price tumbling dimension both in size and grams, an indication that the lowly can now purchase and drink what the affluent can consumer in terms of milk brands.
