Chike Ibekwe, whose project “Letter to the Prof” is slated for the Babylon International Assisted Funds, has continue to add more feathers to his cap. The young Nigerian film maker won the Best Film Prize award at the just concluded 14th Ecrans Noire Film Festival in Cameroun.

Call it a season of political appointments for artistes and you may not be wrong. Nollywood actors are beginning to take the front seats in the scheme of things as they join forces with the powers-that-be to steer the ship of state.

According to the writer and director Mr. Azubike Erinugha, The Champion Sportsman is a Nollywood movie realised in an unusual Nigerian-German co-production. “The aim of the project is to approach and reflect the complexities of migration in a way which confronts cliches and offers divergent perspectives on the issue. The focus is split, on high-pitched African expectations of a life in Europe and on the humiliating European politics against African migrants as well,” he said.

The latest movie I’ve just premiered is titled, “My American Nurse 2″. It was a Nigerian movie. I’m premiering another movie on July 10, which is also a Nigerian movie. My other works are for the National Geography or Discovery Channel.

Speaking on the four Nigerian film projects to benefit from the Babylon International development and support for funding, elated Afolabi Adesanya, Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation said Nigeria was indeed proud that of the numerous film projects entered, Nigeria came tops with four projects.
