Working on the cutting edge of contemporary fashion with a fusion of Afro/urban and western flavour, young and relatively new fashion designer, Yetty D, is definitely going to prove to be a name to remember in the coming years. The new kid on the bloc, made her debut entrance into the Nigeria and Africa fashion scene with her Revolution by Yetty D collection at the just concluded Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) 2015, held from 23-24 May, at the Eko Hotel and Suites Lagos.

The sleepy town of Amurri suddenly rejuvenated last weekend as Nollywood stars stormed there to rally round one of their own, comic-actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu who was burying his late mum, Mrs. Victoria Okafor on that day. The highly anticipated South African film Ayanda, directed by Sara Blecher and produced by Real Eyes in association with Leading Lady Productions, has been announced as the opening night film of the 36th Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) which takes place from 16 to 26 July.

“While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on doing instead of talking,” he said. According to Nnaebue, the filmmakers are at liberty to choose their themes, but each team must select the genre for its movie in a random drawing 15 minutes before the start of the competition. He however noted that the teams are given a character, a prop and a line of dialogue that must appear in their film.

Reacting to the allegation that some producers collect what’s due to the stars from Multichoice for using their works without remitting the same to them, Chairman of the newly established Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria,AVRS, Mahmood Ali-Balogun said, he was not aware of anything like that.
