Jeffrey Daniel led one of Soul’s biggest groups of all time Shalamar in a reunion concert to a large audience of fans at the O2 arena in London. Joining him were original member Howard Hewett and new member Carolyn Griffey who is also the daughter of Shalamar’s creator Richard Griffey.

As the Lagos Jazz Series (LJS) prepares to light up Lagos, Jazz music is all primed up to take centre stage. LJS have been set in motion as the organizers of the outdoor festival confirmed the presence of internationally acclaimed jazz figures, Hugh Masekela and Morrie Louden to entertain lovers of Jazz music.

Traditionally as part of the annual MUSON Festival, there is a Jazz nite component where an international Jazz artiste is billed to be the headline act for the event. However this year’s edition tagged Hi-life Nite sponsored by Midwestern Oil and Gas was different as two home based legends Dr. Victor Olaiya and Sir Victor Uwaifo headlined.

All is now well with the once stormy relationship between the American based record label; BadBeats records and the high life crooner; Flavour.

THREE things stood out distinctly at the recently held Smooth 98.1FM luxury concert. First was the promptness with which the event started, second was the crisp and clear sound production which the musicians themselves profusely commended and last was the caliber of people who attended the event.
