Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has enjoined his Edo state counterpart, Governor Adams Oshiomole not to blame him for purportedly losing the support of Edo state people ahead of the governorship election in his state, adding that he (Oshiomhole) brought President Muhammadu Buhari and 10 APC Governors to Edo State and was not satisfied, but panicking because two PDP governors visited the state.

Sen. Abubakar Kyari, Chairman, Senate Committee on INEC, has said that the last minute shifting of the Edo Governorship election to Sept. 28, will not affect the expected outcome. Kyari was reacting to accusation made by the PDP that the postponement of the poll was aimed at manipulating the outcome by the ruling APC.

SOMETHING doesn’t look right about the decision to postpone the Edo State governorship election slated for last week. This is regardless of whatever reason or reasons informed the decision for the postponement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. But even on this there is nothing to fix the decision on. Conflicting reasons have been adduced for the postponement and the fact that no consensus can be reached on this apparently simple matter only raises suspicion about INEC’s motive for tinkering with the electoral calendar.
