The results of the accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC), has placed Bells University of Technology, Ota on a high pedestal among public and private universities in the country, with the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Isaac Adeyemi describing the success of the university in the NUC’s assessment exercise as one of the giant strides made by the institution.

As part of the developmental efforts of Professor Tolu Odugbemi, the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos the Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WiMAN) which will cover the three campuses of the university- the main campus at Akoka, the College of Medicine at Idi-Araba, and the Yaba Campus at the Old School of Radiography has been officially launched.

Following the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Olubunmi Owoso as the Rector of Yaba College of Technology in December last year, Mrs. Margaret Kudi Ladipo, the new rector of the first tertiary institution in Nigeria has commenced the process of reviewing the strategic plan which has been guiding the action of the college management in the last seven years.

NETC was engrained into the National Open University of Nigeria. It was now discovered by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) that there are commonalities in their mandates. Open University to deliver education, using the open platform to increase access; and part of NETC’s mandate was to use broadcasting and the media to deliver education. So you could see the commonality. So in order to consolidate the entities, the Open University took over NETC and that aspect of the function.

As the test-running of the 9-Year Basic Education curriculum in all the nation’s primary and junior secondary schools continues, the Federal Government has called on state governments and owners of private schools to show seriousness in ensuring a successful implementation of the curriculum.

The authorities of the Fountain University, Osogbo have given scholarship to 38 students of the institution for the 2008/2009 academic session.
