“While we commend the federal government for its quick decision to suspend the accreditation of degree certificates obtained from institutions in Benin Republic and Togo, it is important for the government to take further steps into investigating the activities of relevant agencies fingered in the fraudulent activities.”

“There is no victim, all those people with these certificates are clear-headed crooks who knew what they were paying for because some of them are people who cannot pass the UTME, and some do not have five O-level credits.”

“I’m sure that there are people with training today that will be future doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists, trainers”

The Ministry noted that its decision followed an undercover investigation conducted by a Nigerian online platform that exposed the activity of a degree mill in Cotonou.

“Those who excel were on scholarship. The average students had their education subsidized. I don’t think getting students to pay back loan is sustainable for the Nigerian education system.”
