For many years, our politicians have neglected to build infrastructure and strong institutions which make life more abundant for the people. They have neglected the roads, schools, hospitals, and other social amenities. They have undermined and corrupted the judiciary, police, civil service, electoral bodies and other institutions.

Apart from Lagos where armed thugs disrupted the elections and maliciously disenfranchised a section of the population, and the Kano supplementary election in which security agents failed to rein-in marauding hoodlums, the Police generally performed creditably during the 2019 general elections.

Poisoning of dams and public water bodies should be treated as terrorism, crime against humanity and an attempt at mass murder. The punishment for it must be severe enough to deter evil-minded people from adopting such an inhumane approach in their tussles over land and other natural resources.

The President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, who disclosed that the football icon of the 1970s and 1980s needed at least $50,000 (about N18 million) for an urgent medical trip abroad to save his life, also said the Federation had already taken steps to ensure he got back to his feet.

In the first place, tattoos and dreadlocks are parts of the Nigerian and African culture. A lot of people wearing dreadlocks were born with them while others adopt them as their preferred hairstyle for reasons best known to them.
