December 10th 2015 was the tenth year anniversary of one of the most heart-rending air tragedies in Nigeria’s history. On that fateful day, one of the airlines in the country at that time, Sosoliso Airlines travelling from Abuja to Port Harcourt, crashed while attempting to land, claiming the lives of 109 passengers on board. Only two lucky passengers eventually survived after sustained medical attention.

WE are at that time of the year when millions of Nigerians from all over the world and all corners of the nation travel to their native communities to celebrate Christmas, New Year and engage in all forms of family and communal reunion festivities.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s speeches both at the United Nations summit in Paris on climate change; and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta, dwelt much on the causes of violent crimes and terrorism, which are major problems confronting Nigeria.

The Muhammadu Buhari administration has started making good its pledge to probe the big-time financial transactions of the previous administration with the on-going investigation of arms deals between 2007 and May 29th 2015. Already, a 13-man committee constituted to examine the transactions has unearthed what it described as large-scale scams totalling N643.817 billion and $2.193 billion after a preliminary inquiry.
