SubscribeThe human experience: The in-between (2)
SOMEBODY brought up the subject of another Nigerian living in Baltimore who had committed suicide despite living what seemed to be a beautiful existence.
The human experience: The in-between
PAIN for anyone is not a welcome emotion; most people embrace joy and cultivate happiness as a way of life. The choice of life partner is often measured by how happy some people make us, same goes for choice of friends, profession or vocation. Joy is a 100 percent more welcome than sorrow and who could blame us?
The human experience: Right versus happy
HARMONY is a necessary ingredient to happiness and while no one has a tried and tested formula for everlasting happiness, living harmoniously is half the battle.
Living in harmony with the elements means embracing the environment and adapting our needs to what is readily available.
The human experience: Home (2)
THE major problem deciding where home is or should be is that most of us don’t live in the present. We seem to sneer at what is choosing to believe the possibility of what is not. It’s suicidal to make a life changing decision that affects quite a number of people based on a romantic idea at best.
The human experience: Home
It’s a sound argument that every living thing has a home. For plants, it’s a special terrain, climate and atmosphere that determine the location of the home. For animals it’s more or less the same, you can be a hot weather species or cold one, you could inhabit the deep or the land but a home to a human being is a lot more different.
The human experience: Voices and sounds
THE five senses are the instruments for navigation through our foray in life. They guide us in different ways but they work best when all are at our disposable. In cases where some are missing; in the case of the blind, the vision is compromised but the sense of hearing steps in to become extra sensitive and be a tour guide very effectively.
The human experience: Voices and sounds
Anytime you find yourself interrupting some one by saying things like “ I know just how you feel†or “ me too; something similar happened to me!†you are being self absorbed. The wisest people in the world are attentive when you talk to them, they look at you, and they are not playing a movie in their minds about similar situations, or even imagining themselves in the exact same situation.
The human experience: Emotions
The beginning of life starts with all innocence and no conflict, a baby just accepts and adapts without struggle, an adult on the other hand struggles and refuses to adapt till he is left broken, and bruised.
The human experience: Our stories
There are also people who tell so many lies about their life that they eventually become a source of ridicule but my attitude has always been to believe anything I am told as long as it does not directly affect me adversely; I don’t have the energy to start sorting out stories that are at best irrelevant. I however get concerned that people often get left behind by other people’s expectations and live out a story that is not their own.
The Human experience; eyes(2)
THE human eyes have been done a disservice by their hosts. We actually don’t use them just for the sake of vision, the human eyes are trained from birth to judge, to disparage, to select, appreciate or condemn.
